Spring has Sprung! And some BIG announcements!

Happy Spring, everyone!

There's much news to tell.

First of all, Farmer Tantoh Nforba was granted his visa and we are currently on tour! Thank you to EVERYONE who wrote to the Embassy and Ambassadors on his behalf, including Senators Tina Smith, Tammy Baldwin, and Congressperson Mike Gallagher. You can follow some highlights on my Facebook and Twitter pages, and in this Highlights Foundation post. Visiting with tens of thousands of students has been incredible so far!

Secondly, my two spring books have now released. I Am Farmer: Growing an Environmental Movement in Cameroon hit bookshelves in February, and Nine Months: Before a Baby is Born released April 23.

How exciting that both were very well-received, and Nine Months has received four starred reviews, plus reviews in publications like the Wall Street Journal! Click here to learn more out Nine Months.

Thirdly, I've just heard the news that Little Libraries, Big Heroes (publishing on September 3), is a Junior Library Guild Selection! This is a very special picture book biography about the formation of Little Free Library, and I'm glad to honor the late Todd Bol and his legacy through the publication of this book. Please take some time to read more about it here.

Fourthly, my editorial debut is also this fall! Thanku: Poems of Gratitude is my first official foray into editing a collection of poetry by 32 children's authors and poets. The cover reveal went live this month on the We Need Diverse Books blog, and I'm so glad that the royalties of this book will benefit WNDB. The cover from Marlena Myles is just stunning. I can't wait for this book to reach homes and classrooms on September 3. So much to be grateful for.

Lastly, and certainly a gigantic piece of news, is that I am the newest intern at the Erin Murphy Literary Agency! Erin Murphy Literary Agency is a leading U.S. children's book agency that focuses on connections—between writer and editor, story and reader—as well as on helping clients build their careers and grow as artists. Just take a peek at their client list! I'm honored to get to learn the ropes from a great group of people, and I thank them for welcoming me.

Although some of my agenting duties won't begin until June 3, I'm excited at the opportunity to explore what wearing an agent hat is like.*** All agency-related emails must be sent to, and not my personal email.***

***BIG IMPORTANT NOTES: Interns do not acquire clients. Do not send me queries (but you may send donuts). I'm essentially an office assistant, waterboy, paper pusher. Also, other people might read the emails you send me so keep it professional. Also, it's been fun, but I am no longer offering my freelance services in terms of paid critiques or mentorships to avoid conflict of interest. Click here to read more.
